Kessingland is on the tip of East Anglia's heritage coastline between Lowestoft and Southwold and is fabulous for horse riding on the beach. It's a small coastal village that has an 'open late' minimart, post office, fish & chip shop, chinese takeaway, bistro, pubs, newsagent, hairdressers and a petrol and vehicle servicing garage. Kessingland is the home of Africa Alive wildlife safari park.

Nearby there are recreational amenities including; golf, horse riding, art classes, boat and bike hire and, of course, fabulous coastal walks fringing sea and wildlife sanctuaries.

Hire a beach hut, ride a donkey, see Punch & Judy.

Interesting places to visit are Walberswick, Southwold, Minsmere, Dunwich Heath, and the Norfolk Broads. A little further afield is the magnificent Framlingham Castle, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh and the Bressingham Steam Museum.


Coast/Beach
Large expanse of dunes, sand and pebbles. Visiting seals can sometimes be seen close to the shore. Ideal for kite flying. Leave modern life behind.

A car is recommended. Limited public transport.
Both Norwich airport and Port of Harwich are 1hr by car.
112 miles from London on A12. Travelling time from Ipswich approx. 1hr. From Kessingland buses run every 1/2hr to Lowestoft and Southwold.

Walberswick can be reached by ferry from Southwold, home of Adnams beer, approx. 6 miles. Lowestoft 6 miles. Aldeburgh and Snape Concert Hall approx. 25 miles.

Note for music lovers.....Until April 2008, Lowestoft is home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra where Benjamin Britton spent his early years. Other places of interest - the maritime town of Gt Yarmouth and the historic town of Bury St Edmunds with its cathedral, Abbey Gardens, museums, theatre and shops.
